How to Use

I. Shortcuts

We have one “Back/Previous Page” button and three “Next Page” buttons.
“Next (1)” is the default.
“Next (2)” and “Next (3)” are invisible unless the page has choices to choose from.
Both will behave like “Next (1)” if there is no branch to jump to.
These 3 NEXT buttons make it so that there are up to 3 possible options in your choose-your-own adventure.

A chapter’s reading direction can also be set from Left-To-Right to Right-to-Left
via request from the author. If this is the case, ALL the Back and Next(1) functions are
reversed while Next(2) and Next(3) retain their behavior.

There is a hidden “First-Read Lock” feature. It forces one to read a story without any branches during the first read. While active, it DISABLES all hints.
On such time, Next(2) and Next(3) buttons will never appear.
This lock is dissolved after you complete a read-through and is reinstated every time you REFRESH the browser.
Authors may request the site to turn this On or Off for a chapter.

You can toggle the reading pane by tapping the persistent button on the left of the Page Number.
The ESC button closes the whole reading pane and the Bookmark window.
Speaking of bookmarks…

II. Bookmark

Try using bookmarks whenever a page might lead to multiple outcomes. In game terms, the Bookmark acts as SAVE/LOAD.

Use the “B” keyboard button or tap the page number to show the Bookmark pane. The controls are:

[ Set Bookmark ] – acts like SAVE
[ Jump to Bookmark ] – acts like LOAD
[ Tap to Clear ] – removes the bookmark.
Or TAP outside to close the bookmark pane

Bookmark remembers the page so you can quickly jump back to it later. It’s helpful when you feel your at a fork-in-the-road.

III. Options Before / While Reading

“Prefetch All Pages” :
This loads all pages in the story BEFORE you read.
Unnecessary waiting usually ruins the reading experience. Prefetching avoids all that waiting while going through each page.

Have a sip of tea first while you wait for this xD
You don’t need to wait until 100%. The loader runs in the background even if you decide to start reading, say at 20%.

This can get stuck sometimes. If that happens, close the reading pane. Then Refresh, or clear your browser’s image cache for this site, or try repeating both.

“1” and “2”:
These keys can be used while reading on PC. Just tap the key while reading the story.

Hints offered by “1” are never available while in your first read. After a read-through, “2” makes it so that you’ll be brought back to the Bookmarked page instead of the First page.

You’ll see slight changes in the pages when one of these are active.

That’s it! Have fun reading!
